The Cape Town Science Centre is celebrating our Earth and all the wonders and phenomenon’s that come with it. Join them as they uncover some of these wonders.
Saturday 4 February
11h00 Temperaments of tectonic plates (Entry fee only | all ages)
Learn about how the movement of tectonic plates affects the earth and make an erupting volcano.
15h00 Does size matter? (Entry fee only | all ages)
Using balloons and nails, enjoy a very loud demonstration about the relationship between pressure, volume and surface area.
Sunday 5 February
11h00 Scary scarecrows (Entry fee only | all ages)
Have you ever driven past a farm and seen the scary man standing in the fields? What is a scarecrow and how does it work? Make a scarecrow to take home with you.
15h00 Why is the sky blue? (Entry fee only | all ages)
Using water, torches and lenses, discover why the sky appears blue during the day and how we get such beautiful sunsets.
12h00 and 14h00 Camera Obscura shows (weather-dependent)
Take a tour of the city while standing on one spot – join a Camera Obscura tour for a 360° view of the surrounding area. Listen out for announcements to join the tour.
13h00 Science show
Daily science shows will excite while nurturing awareness that science is a part of our daily lives.
