Shakespeare Schools Festival

Register your school for the Shakespeare Schools Festival by 30 April; there are also workshops for teachers on how to be a good director.

The Shakespeare Schools Festival South Africa (SSFSA) is inspired by the successful UK school drama version and additional education programme, aimed at improving language and social skills through the performing arts.

High school pupils are invited to produce thirty-minute versions of Shakespeare’s plays and perform them in the local theatres.

The vision is to mobilise the collective and individual dreams of our country’s youth through performing arts and education.

The festival also offers training programmes in the form of teacher-director workshops, as well as cast workshops for the learners.

To register your school for the 2017 festival, go to Note that on receipt of your registration form, the SSFSA will invoice your school for the registration fee (R975).

Registration closes 30 April 2017.

Performances will be between May and October 2017.
