Guided nature walk
Spot zebra and wildebeest, identify birds, and see many plant species, on a guided nature walk in Modderfontein on Sat 8 at 07h00. Ages 8+.
Go on a guided walk in the Modderfontein Reserve, a private open space dedicated to conservation under the management of the Endangered Wildlife Trust.
The 275ha conservation area boasts amazing birdlife, especially around the three large dams in the reserve. Species include Fish Eagles, Long Crested Eagles, etc. You may also see zebra and wildebeest.
The walk leaves from Fish Eagle Dam promptly at 08h00 – please be there 15 minutes beforehand to sign the register and indemnity forms. Fish Eagle Dam is the first opportunity to turn right after you enter the boom gate and there is a sign for the turn.
Dress sensibly (greens and khakis suggested) with good shoes and a hat. Sunscreen and water bottles are recommended.
Take binoculars if you have them.
Suitable for ages 8+.
Entrance fee into the Reserve is R 30 for adults and R 15 for children, and the cost of the walk is R 10 per person.
