Al Bairre is a Cape Town based, four-piece symphonic indie pop band comprising of Nicholas Preen, Kyle Davis and twins Julia and Tessa Johnson. They launched in 2012 and take inspiration from indie stalwarts such as Arcade Fire, Ra Ra Riot, Vampire Weekend and Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes. Combining cellos, violins, guitars, ukeleles and drums, they achieve a multi-layered accessible indie-pop sound.
Keeping things super-cool, but with red-hot riffs, is guitarist extraordinaire, Albert Frost. With his roots planted firmly in the blues, Frost played with the Blues Broers for 21 years, recording five albums with them. He has also performed with other SA greats such as Arno Carstens and Koos Kombuis as well as international artists such as Finlay Quay, R.E.M, Simple Minds and has supported the Rolling Stones.
